The auto insurance ad wars have been waging seemingly non-stop since the dawn of time—well, not really, but it can feel that way when our weeknight television viewing is interrupted. Each carrier has its own jingle or catchphrase, and
State Farm has carved out a space for itself with its “like a good neighbor” slogan.
Everyone knows the routine—every time a client sings the jingle, their State Farm agent appears instantly. On television, the results are usually satisfactory. But Chicago-based comedian Owen Weber has imagined what might happen if you call your agent at a not-so-convenient time.
“We’ve all seen those State Farm commercials where an insurance agent is instantly summoned whenever somebody sings the State Farm jingle, but once in a while you get the State Farm agent at a bad time,” Weber explained.
The series of comedy sketches, called “How to piss off your State Farm agent,” envisions a world where State Farm agents aren’t always at a client’s beck-and-call.
