Florida Peninsula Insurance Company announced this week that it has expanded its Boca Raton headquarters by 6000 square feet and will be hiring about 40 people in underwriting, accounting, claims, marketing and human resources.

Chairman Paul Adkins said the expansion was completed in order to accommodate the growth in headcount. He said the company is experiencing a tremendous surge in policies due largely to new home construction. Once new hiring is complete, the company will employ about 160 people. The company currently has just over 120,000 policyholders. The company offers only homeowners and renters’ insurance and is one of the top 10 property insurers in Florida.

The company was founded in 2005, just in time for Hurricane Dennis. It processed more than 10,000 claims that first year and has relied on a statewide network of independent agents to grow rapidly in the state.
