The former president and owner of the Wright Insurance Agency in
Hartford, Conn. was arrested Friday night on forgery charges, the West
Hartford Police said.
53-year-old Marcelio Wright allegedly received payments on insurance policies in exchange for forged insurance documents. The affected individuals who believed they owned valid insurance policies were said to suffer “significant losses.”
The arrest took place following a coordinated investigation between the National Insurance Crime Bureau and the Connecticut Insurance Department, and covered both the Wright Insurance Agency and the company’s former names, New England Insurance Center and Entertainment Insurance Co.
Wright continued to sell insurance in the state despite having his insurance license revoked by the Connecticut Insurance Department in 2009. He is currently being held on a $200,000 bond and is charged with three counts of second-degree forgery.
