Two brokerage giants have furthered their acquisition spree across the US.
Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. has acquired Wilkins & Associates Insurance Services Inc., a retail insurance brokerage based in Reno, Nevada. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Wilkins & Associates, founded by Tom and Melanie Wilkins, provides commercial and personal insurance coverage to clients in Reno and western Nevada. Steve Wilkins, Jared Wilkins, and their team will join Gallagher and report to Scott Firestone, who oversees Gallagher’s Southwest region retail property/casualty brokerage operations.
J. Patrick Gallagher, Jr., chairman and CEO of Gallagher, said the acquisition will expand the company’s retail brokerage presence in Nevada.
Separately, Hub International Limited has acquired the assets of Scott Held Insurance Agency, Inc., an independent insurance agency based in Carlsbad, California. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Scott Held Insurance Agency offers commercial and personal insurance to clients in the region. President Scott Held and the agency’s team will join Hub Southern California & Utah. The agency will operate as Scott Held Insurance Agency, a Hub International company.
Held said the acquisition will provide access to additional insurance carriers and technology while maintaining existing service standards.
Consolidation remains active in the US insurance brokerage sector as firms seek to expand their geographic reach and service offerings. Major brokerages including Brown & Brown, Marsh McLennan, and WTW have continued to acquire smaller agencies and brokerages to strengthen their market positions.
Recent deals have targeted regional firms with established client bases in commercial and personal lines. Acquirers often cite the ability to enhance local market coverage, integrate technology platforms, and broaden product access as key factors behind these transactions.
