Global brokerage Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. has announced that it has acquired the assets of Meadowbrook Insurance Agency, a retail insurance broker based in Southfield, Mich. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Meadowbrook Insurance Agency offers property-casualty and group benefits services to customers in Michigan and Florida. As part of the transaction, Gallagher will also acquire Meadowbrook’s affiliated companies, The Protection Center and Kleinschmidt Agency.

The Meadowbrook Insurance Agency team will report to Sean Gallagher, head of Gallagher’s Great Lakes region P&C brokerage operations, and Tom Lannen, head of Gallagher’s Midwest region employee benefits consulting operations, the company said in a news release.

“Meadowbrook Insurance Agency’s strong relationships across Michigan will enhance our strategic capabilities in the region and deepen our market expertise in public entity, manufacturing and real estate,” said J. Patrick Gallagher Jr., chairman, president and CEO of Gallagher. “I am very pleased to welcome the Meadowbrook Insurance Agency team to Gallagher.”

This week also saw Gallagher announce the acquisition of Washington, D.C.-based Clements Worldwide. Earlier this month, the global broker swooped for The Coverage Pro, an Arizona-based retail broker.
