After a transatlantic move, having two children and working for more than 30 years in the insurance industry, Edie Buck is finally cutting her commute down to 10 minutes and working in her new hometown.

A Yelm, Washington resident, Buck has been added to the growing staff of Ronelle Funk Insurance Agency as a personal lines insurance advisor.

Before joining, Buck graduated Pierce College in business management, spent 15 years as a senior claims associate in a Tacoma insurance office, several more years in Puyallup as an agency office manager, and more than 12 years as a licensed agents with an Allstate Office in Olympia.

Interestingly enough, that office – owned by Marilyn Zuckerman – is part of a family business started by Bill Funk more than 25 years ago. Bill’s daughter, Ronelle, who runs Buck’s latest office, is eager to have a new employee with whom she is already familiar.

“Edie has helped thousands of clients in our area with their insurance needs and understands our family’s reputation for superior customer service,” Funk told Thurston Talk. “She also has a genuine passion for insurance and uses her skills and know-how to personally help people understand their home, auto, motorcycle, boat and life insurance.

“She has top level insurance claims expertise to help right when our clients need it.”

Buck was born in Germany and moved to the United States as a child, where she was raised in Spanaway, Washington. She has lived in Yelm for the last 12 years and has been married for more than 30 years. She has two children, a daughter and son, and says she enjoys working with the Funks and continuing in a position she says feels like working with family.

“I respect Ronelle because she is a hard worker and makes me want to work hard,” Buck said. “She has an upbeat personality and is well thought of locally. Ronelle has built this Yelm agency to be a focal place of serving the community.”
