Healthcare comparison shopping firm GetInsured has said it will acquire startup Array Health, a Seattle-based firm that provides group health insurance.

The acquisition builds on a previous cooperative effort by the two companies, which combined GetInsured’s market platform with Array’s products. GetInsured’s exchange technology catered to 1.5 million clients last year, according to a report by GeekWire.

In a company statement, GetInsured chief executive Chini Krishnan noted that “this acquisition strengthens our mission and answers the need of employers for an all-in-one solution that addresses group, individual and Medicare options.”

Under the deal, GetInsured will open an office in Seattle to house Array’s 30-person team, which will focus on the former’s insurance business unit. Krishnan will retain his chief executive post, while Array Health CEO Jonathan Rickert was appointed senior vice president and general manager of the insurance business unit.
