Ironshore International has acquired Sydney-based Savannah Insurance Agency to broaden its regional presence in offering select specialty business lines.

The Savannah team of underwriters will be joining the Ironshore Australia offices due to the acquisition, which is effective immediately. Ironshore Australia managing director Katherine Simmonds will oversee the integration of the companies.

“Ironshore’s acquisition of the Savannah Agency further expands our experienced underwriting team and enhances our breadth of product offerings in specialty lines within the regional market,” Simmonds said.

“Ironshore continues to build upon its strategic foundation of uncovering growth opportunities in selected specialty sectors within key markets, such as Australia,” added Mark Wheeler, Ironshore International CEO.

Ironshore Australia underwrites a range of property and casualty lines, including mergers and acquisitions and tax liability, political risk, trade credit, marine cargo and agriculture commercial risks.

On the other hand, the Savannah Insurance Agency underwrites various lines of business, including personal accident, public liability, professional indemnity, management liability and property.

The company was founded in 2009 by Julian Sparkes, the former CEO of A.J. Gallagher, Australasia.
