HDI Global Insurance Company (HDI Global USA) has appointed Jim Clark as its newest CEO, and Brad Diericx as president.

Both Clark and Diericx succeed the company’s longtime CEO and president Dr. Lothar Becker. Becker will continue to serve as deputy chairman of HDI Global USA and chairman of HDI Specialty Insurance Company (HDI Specialty USA), the company’s excess and surplus lines subsidiary.

The appointments take effect January 01, 2020.

Clark is currently serving as HDI Global USA’s chief underwriting officer. He has been with the company since 2003, having held a number of leadership roles. With more than 30 years of underwriting and financial services technology experience, Clark spent 12 of those years at the Kemper Group, where he handled international and domestic business lines including alternative risk and group captive business. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, where he earned a BS in finance and insurance.

As CEO, Clark will oversee the continued growth of HDI Global USA and HDI Specialty USA, as well as the company’s growing operations in Canada and Mexico.

Diericx, who has 25 years of experience, has served as HDI Global USA’s chief financial officer since 2014. In his expanded role, he will lead the company’s information technology, human resources and operations activities. Diericx will continue his responsibilities as chief financial officer. Before joining HDI Global USA, he held senior executive roles in merchant banking, consulting and public accounting.

“We are pleased about the very well planned and executed leadership transition within our organization,” said HDI Global USA chairman Jens Wohlthat.

Wohlthat also said in a statement that HDI Global recognizes Becker’s contributions to the company, helping transform the group’s initial US liaison office into a “sound and very respected insurance carrier” and thanks him for his three decades of leadership.
