Insurance holding group H.W. Kaufman Financial Group has acquired a building to house its new New Orleans operation.

Kaufman, which owns Burns & Wilcox, announced this week that it has taken over the Cox Communications Building in the greater New Orleans area. As part of the deal, the building will be rebranded as the Burns & Wilcox Center and will be the center of the group’s New Orleans office location.

The company will occupy more than 20,000 square feet in the building, which is located at 2121irline Drive in Metairie. Cox Communications will continue to inhabit some of the office space in the six-story, 125,000 square-foot facility.

The building is located near the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport and has 50,000 square feet of available Class A office space.

The news comes three months after Kaufman acquired New Orleans specialty insurance broker B&F Specialty Risks Inc., which is now part of the Burns & Wilcox New Orleans office.

Burns & Wilcox has been active in the New Orleans region for almost 30 years, the company said in a press release.
