A new deal undertaken by Nationwide Mutual Insurance and National General will have the former ceding management of its personal and commercial non-standard vehicle policies at the beginning of next year.

Central Penn Business Journal reported that under the renewal rights transaction, National General will support members who have existing policies with Nationwide Mutual.

Current Nationwide Mutual coverage will remain in effect until the end of policy terms, but policy holders will receive a non-renewal letter from the company, and an offer for a replacement policy from National General.

The move could mean job cuts at Nationwide Mutual’s Susquehanna Township office, the report said. However, the company is trying to keep the losses to a minimum, spokesman Eric Hardgrove added.

“The changes will impact a small amount of associates across the country. We are working with National General to find opportunities for some of those folks,” he added.
