An insurance company executive has been tapped by Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner to lead the state’s health insurance marketplace.

Rauner has selected Karen Woods to fill the post, according to an Associated Press report. Woods was previously the executive director of Blue Cross Blue Shield’s retail claim operation.

Woods will succeed Karin Zosel, who left the exchange in August to return to MacMurray College in Jacksonville, where she worked prior to her appointment, the AP reported.

Get Covered Illinois is now in its third annual open enrollment period under Obamacare. The enrollment period ends Jan. 31.

Rauner made Get Covered Illinois a division of the state insurance department last summer, according to the AP. That department is headed up by Anne Melissa Dowling, formerly of the Connecticut Insurance Department and a board member of that state’s health insurance exchange.
