Three media groups are seeking access to sealed court records related to a dispute between Penn State and an insurance company over settlement payments to those allegedly abused by ex-Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky when they were children.

The Associated Press, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Philadelphia Media Network and PA Media Group filed a motion Friday asking a Philadelphia court if they could access the records a judge referred to the other week in a public court order, reported Fox News.

According to Judge Gary Glazer, Pennsylvania Manufacturers' Association Insurance Co. claimed that a young boy confided with the late head coach Joe Paterno in 1976 that Sandusky had molested him, and that two assistant coaches witnessed Sandusky in “inappropriate contact” with other children in the 1980s.

Sandusky asserts his innocence despite the charges laid against him.

Penn State University is currently embroiled in a dispute of its own with its insurer over whom to hold accountable for paying some of the damages incurred.
