Insurer to sponsor Special Olympics Northern California

The Monterey-based carrier has teamed up with te Special Olympics group as a partner and presenting sponsor

Capital Insurance Group announced this week that it has teamed up with Special Olympics Northern California to serve as an annual partner and presenting sponsor for the upcoming 2016 Northern California Schools Partnership Program Monterey Track and Field Meet.

"The entire CIG team is excited to partner with Special Olympics Northern California, and help provide a great experience and open doors for fun, sportsmanship and friendly competition to those in our community who otherwise may lack the opportunity to participate," said Capital Insurance Group president and CEO Arne Chatterton. "Supporting local charities and organizations always has been important to us, and we're happy to join the Special Olympics Northern California team in providing such an invaluable program to so many."

Our student-athletes have been training for eight weeks and are ready to compete and give it their all," remarked Special Olympics Northern California and Nevada president and CEO David Solo. "CIG employees will participate in a day that solidifies unity, respect and inclusion among the students in Monterey County. We thank CIG for understanding the value our program brings to their community."

The 2016 Northern California Schools Partnership Program Monterey Track and Field will be held on Friday, April 29 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Monterey Peninsula College. About 500 students ranging from grades K-12 from throughout the Northern California region will participate in the games.

CIG employees will help facilitate the awarding ceremonies, presenting awards to those athletes who win in their respective events.

CIG will also be the presenting sponsor for the two-day Special Olympics Nevada Summer Games at the University of Nevada, Reno on Friday, June 3 and Saturday, June 4.
