Marsh has appointed Eddie Albers (pictured) to lead its US life sciences practice.

Albers has more than 20 years of experience in the sector. Marsh said that he has joined the practice at a critical time for the life sciences industry as pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies fight COVID-19.

Albers joins Marsh from Aon, where he served for 14 years as national director of the company’s life sciences group. In his new role at Marsh, Albers will be based in Portland, Ore., and will report to Jeffrey Alpaugh, the company’s US and Canada growth and industry leader.

“Life sciences companies are facing a myriad of risks today, from increased regulatory scrutiny to potential exposure to the opioid epidemic to the race to develop a COVID-19 vaccine,” Alpaugh said. “Eddie is a consummate client advocate whose extensive industry knowledge and experience make him the ideal person to lead this dynamic practice forward.”

“Marsh is a global leader in the life sciences industry, and I’m excited to join the firm and lead this distinguished team as we seek to deliver innovative risk and insurance solutions to life sciences companies across the US,” Albers said.

Albers succeeds Doug Carey, who is moving to a client services executive role at the company.
