MarshBerry has announced a new appointment and the addition of a new firm to its agency partnership platform.

The company has appointed Brian Refici (pictured above) as vice president. Refici will be based in Woodmere, Ohio, and will act as a client-facing lead on merger and acquisition projects.

Prior to joining MarshBerry, Refici served as assistant vice president of investor relations at The Hartford Financial Services Group. Before taking that position, he spent eight years in various M&A roles at The Hartford and led the company’s acquisition in the group life and disability space. He has also held various roles at United Technologies.

“Brian’s knowledge of the insurance M&A market will allow him to have immediate impact for our clients looking to capitalize on strong market activity,” said Phil Trem, president of financial advisory at MarshBerry. “We are excited to welcome him to the team.”

IMA joins Connect Platform

MarshBerry has also announced that Massachusetts-based Insurance Marketing Agencies (IMA) has joined the MarshBerry Connect Platform. The Connect Platform is the third-largest aggregator in the US.

“Part of what makes our model unique is the opportunity to help firms execute best practices to drive organic growth,” said David Soforenko, executive vice president of the MarshBerry Connect Platform. “It’s designed for agencies that truly want to differentiate the delivery of insurance solutions to clients.”

“As a member of MarshBerry’s Connect Network since 2019, we have been able to see firsthand the benefits of meeting, sharing, and growing with our peers,” said Laura Herman-Strohecker, CEO of IMA. “By joining the MarshBerry Connect Platform, we are doubling down on the opportunity with even more resources to help empower the growth goals of our clients. Our firm is already enjoying the benefits of the construction focus group, and we are excited about all the potential the Connect Platform affords.”

The Connect Platform launched in 2019 as an exclusive offering to insurance agency and broker members of MarshBerry’s peer exchange, the Connect Network.
