Two insurance companies, Eastern Insurance Group and Atlantic Charter Insurance Co., made it to a list prepared by The Globe Magazine and The Commonwealth Institute that detailed Massachusetts’ top 100 women-led organizations.
The collaboration sought to recognize organizations in Massachusetts with the most remarkable records of innovation and workplace diversity, as well as income and employee numbers.
Both for-profit and nonprofit organizations were considered for the list.
Eastern Insurance Group, led by president and CEO Hope A Aldritch, came in 53rd.
Atlantic Charter Insurance Co., with Linda Sallop as president and CEO, finished at 69th.
The top woman-led organization, according to the list, was Weber Shandwick. Led by Micho F Spring, the organization is in public relations.
Results were determined by a number of factors. The revenue and/or operating budget of the organizations were considered, as well as their number of full-time employees in the state, workplace and management diversity, and innovative projects.
The organizations were then ranked according to a formula designed by The Globe Magazine and The Commonwealth Institute.
This was the 14th year that the Commonwealth Institute—a nonprofit that supports female business leaders—has created the list, and the third time that it has collaborated with Globe Magazine.
