McGriff has announced the appointment of Seth Buchwald (pictured above) as vice president and product for its Executive Risk Advisors transactional risk team.

Prior to joining Mcgriff, Buchwald served as a senior associate in the federal and international tax group of international law firm Alston & Bird. In that role, he represented domestic and international clients in complex domestic and cross-border transactions, tax controversy, and tax insurance matters. Before attending law school, he was a certified public accountant.

Buchwald has worked with several insurance companies and managing agents in the tax insurance space. His tax risk experience includes transactions involving renewable energy tax credits, joint venture structures, S corporations, and tax exposures in domestic and international M&A transactions.

“Having worked closely with many of the underwriters in the tax insurance industry, Seth brings industry knowledge and experience that will drive business development for McGriff’s tax insurance practice and deliver creative solutions for clients,” said Patrick Maguire, national director of specialty at McGriff.

“We are excited to add Seth to the team and believe his hiring further reinforces our commitment to the transactional risk space,” said Dusty Cahill, co-leader of Executive Risk Advisors. “In five years, we’ve assembled a talented group of seven highly specialized and accomplished professionals.”

In his new role, Buchwald will serve as a key liaison with the tax insurance markets and directly support clients as they navigate complex tax matters, McGriff said.
