Global insurance leaders meeting in Paris
Insurance professionals from across the world are meeting Friday at the 8th International Insurance Conference in Paris.

Hosted by the French Federation of Insurance, the event brings together industry leaders to discuss the latest challenges impacting the insurance sector worldwide.

Among those taking part is American Insurance Association president and CEO Leigh Ann Pusey who is a featured panellist on cybersecurity issues.

“I look forward to conversing with our European colleagues about the new regulatory and cybersecurity challenges and how we can work together to address these issues,” commented Ms. Pusey.

“In a world that is becoming rapidly more interconnected, it is essential for stakeholders to collaborate on how the insurance industry and the accompanying international regulatory framework should evolve to meet the needs of policyholders,” she added.

Canada prepares for earthquake drill
Next week, residents and businesses in one Canadian province will join with emergency services and insurers to hold the country’s largest earthquake preparedness drill.

The Great British Columbia Shakeout is being organized by the Insurance Bureau of Canada and the BC Earthquake Alliance and
will remind those in the province to “Drop, Cover and Hold On” in the event of a quake hitting their region.

"More than 3,000 earthquakes occur in British Columbia each year. Most are too small to be felt, but the risk of one big enough to cause major damage is real," said Dave Cockle, President of the BC Earthquake Alliance. "Participating in the Great British Columbia ShakeOut is an excellent way for your family or organization to take one small step towards preparing to survive and recover quickly."
