Robert D. Morrow Jr has been named associate commissioner for the Maryland Insurance Administration.
Morrow will serve as the commissioner’s designee for select quasi-judicial hearings. Such hearings will include appeals of consumer complaints and good faith cases.
Maryland Insurance Commissioner Al Redmer, Jr shared his thoughts on Morrow’s appointment. “Bob’s entire career has been dedicated to the insurance industry and as such is a perfect fit to adjudicate these cases for the state,” the commissioner remarked.
Before assuming the position of associate commissioner, Morrow was the managing counsel at Transamerica Life Insurance Co., where he acted as legal counsel to Transamerica Life & Protection Division and Affinity Markets Group. As counsel, he helped negotiate contracts, as well as investigating and evaluating legal matters with insurance carriers and other third parties. Morrow worked for Transamerica for 13 years.
Morrow also served as staff attorney with Spectera (now called Optum Health) and was a law clerk at the Pennsylvania Insurance Department.
