Global reinsurer MS Amlin AG (MS AAG) has entered the agriculture reinsurance market with the appointment of Rinat Bektleuov as product group lead underwriter.

The agriculture reinsurance offering will be available globally and coverage includes five core products – crop insurance, livestock insurance, aquacultural insurance, forestry, and weather index products.

The launch comes as part of MS AAG’s wider global diversification strategy, with Bektleuov leading the new offering. Based in Zurich, Bektleuov reports directly to Charles Goldie, chief underwriting officer at MS AAG, and joined MS AAG from PartnerRe, where he specialized in agriculture reinsurance over the course of almost 20 years at the business.

“The launch of the new agriculture reinsurance offering is an important milestone for MS AAG which demonstrates progress in, and commitment to, our diversification and growth strategy,” said Goldie. “Operating alongside our sister company, MS Amlin Underwriting Limited, I am confident that our entry to the agriculture market will provide clients with excellent additional reinsurance solutions, and further strengthen MS Amlin’s overall agriculture portfolio.

Goldie added that he looked forward to “working closely with Rinat as we utilize his deep sector expertise and experience developing global business lines, as we continue to focus on executing our business strategy, building a global, full-service and diversified reinsurance business to serve our clients’ growing needs.”
