A leading underwriting manager of specialty insurance programs has appointed a new president.

Victor O. Schinnerer & Company announced Monday that Brian Hanuschak will be helming the group as president, responsible for leading company operations and developing business. His focus will include expanding Schinnerer’s existing platform by “driving new product innovation and extending the reach of the distribution network,” according to a statement.

Hanuschak, who previously served as managing director of sales and distribution for Schinnerer, will be based in the firm’s Chevy Chase, Maryland headquarters and report to CEO Rob Byler.

“Brian’s experience and dedication has been instrumental in ushering the firm into an exciting and dynamic era,” Byler said. “I am confident he will have an even greater impact in his new role and will deliver the leadership, strategic vision, and product innovation that will position our organization to exceed the needs of our carriers, brokers and insureds.”

Commenting on his new position, Mr. Hanuschak said: “I am excited by the opportunity to drive growth and expansion for Schinnerer. We are in an outstanding position to deliver additional product options and innovation to our broad distribution force while maintaining our focus on customer service and underwriting excellence.”

Hanuschak is known for his work in promoting broker and carrier relations, as well as improvement sales and marketing strategy and implementing new programs. He is a 31-year veteran of the industry and has held senior management positions in subsidiaries of Travelers, GE Capital and General Reinsurance.

Schinnerer serves more than 46,000 insureds in various specialty industries through independent agents and brokers.
