Property and casualty insurance company Chubb announced Jan. 25 that it has appointed a new leadership team to lead its Southeast Region operations in North America, effective Feb. 15.

The Southeast Region is one of Chubb’s eight North America Insurance regions throughout the United States and Canada.

The company named James M. Shevlin as Senior Vice President, North America Insurance and Regional Executive Officer (REO) of the Southeast Region. Shevlin was previously appointed as Regional Chief Operating Officer (RCOO) for the Southeast Region. He will assume the responsibilities previously assigned to D. Scott Dalton, who retires Feb. 15. Shevlin will report to Chubb Group senior vice president and division president for Field Operations for the North America Insurance division Harold L. Morrison, Jr.

Shevlin’s duty as the REO would be to execute the underwriting and sales strategies of the company’s business units, managing the staff, overseeing production, profit and loss, and distribution management in the Southeast Region. He will also manage the company’s Atlanta office.

Serving as RCOO for the Southeast Region is Barbara A. Wittick, who answers directly to Shevlin. At present, Wittick is senior vice president and branch manager for the Tampa location. While serving as RCOO, Wittick will lead the Tampa branch office, with the Birmingham, Nashville and Charlotte branch offices reporting to her.

Morrison asserted that Shevlin and Wittick are the right people for the job, as they have “a deep understanding of the broad spectrum of risks unique to the Southeast Region.” "They are part of a strong lineup of experienced field leaders who are the face of a nimble, relationship-driven and solutions-oriented company focused on generating profitable growth in the region," he added.
