In the face of the looming repeal of the Affordable Care Act, which was aimed at providing broad medical coverage for millions of Americans, it might be good to just focus on the January 31 enrollment deadline for these exchanges.

The past administration extended the sign-up deadline following strong interest among the general public. As of December 2016, around 12 million had enrolled for coverage under the law, an NBC News report said.

“What we have seen, certainly following the election but it continues today, is uncertainty,” said Enroll America vice president of programs Jennifer Sullivan. “The truth is no-one knows how the law will fare this year. The uncertainty is warranted.”

The law will provide coverage from March through to the rest of the year and there are special enrollment periods available to individuals who are undergoing critical life events such as divorce, birth or death of a loved one, the report added.

President Donald J. Trump has announced his intention of revoking the law and replacing it with another that will provide broader healthcare coverage for Americans. However, his administration has yet to present a concrete plan.
