Ryan Specialty Group (RSG) has appointed Mark S. Katz, Esq. to the role of executive vice-president, general counsel.

Katz will be responsible for leading the company’s legal, compliance, and regulatory functions in his new role, a release said.

He joined RSG in 2019, initially as a senior vice-president and counsel for insurance services. He led a team that was focused on supporting the insurance operations of RSG and its subsidiaries. Prior to joining RSG, Katz was a partner with the law firm Mound Cotton Wallan & Greengrass LLP, where he spent 25 years analyzing and litigating complex insurance coverage disputes on behalf of insurers. In that role, he specialized in commercial first-party property litigation.

Katz is admitted to the New York and New Jersey bars. He is also a graduate of Syracuse University, Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, and of Hofstra Law School – where he was an editor of the Hofstra Law Review.

“Mark brings deep knowledge and expertise to the role of general counsel. Additionally, Mark has demonstrated this past year his strong leadership skills and extensive insurance acumen,” said RSG founder, chairman, and CEO Patrick G. Ryan.
