Shults tapped to head The Hartford’s Central Division

The former Zurich exec will lead The Hartford’s middle market sales and underwriting operation in the central United States

The Hartford has named Mark Shults as division executive for its Central Division, according to a release. In his new role, Shults will lead the company’s middle market sales and underwriting operation for independent agents, brokers and their customers in the central United States.

“Solid relationships with our distribution partners are crucial to helping us execute on our strategy to profitably grow our business and provide tailored insurance solutions to midsize business clients,” said Tracey Ant, senior vice president of middle market field sales and execution. “Mark has a strong history of driving company underwriting initiatives and sales strategies with agent and broker partners, and I am confident he will help us deepen our distribution relationships while focusing on market execution.”

Prior to joining The Hartford, Shults served as national broker relationship leader at Zurich. He’s also served at Zurich as regional executive in Atlanta and area executive in Houston. Prior to Zurich, Shults held leadership positions at McGriff, Seibels & Williams, Willis, AIG and Assurant Group.

Shults will be based in The Hartford’s Frisco, Texas, office.
