Somerset Reinsurance has announced the appointment of Josh Braverman as the company’s new chief investment officer and as a member of its executive leadership team. In his new role, Braverman will be responsible for Somerset’s asset management activities and will chair its investment and investment advisory committees. He will be based in Bermuda and report to Somerset Re CEO Patrick Kelleher.

Prior to his appointment at Somerset, Braverman served as senior executive director and head of legacy business for AXA US and president and CEO of AXA Corporate Solutions Live Re. Previous to those roles, he served as AXA US chief investment officer, treasurer and head of derivatives. Braverman has also held senior executive positions with AEGON.

“We are very pleased to welcome Josh Braverman as our new chief investment officer,” Kelleher said. “In addition to his responsibilities for oversight and management of our company’s asset management and derivatives-hedging programs, Josh will play an important role in the development of life and annuity reinsurance solutions for our clients.”

Braverman holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Wharton School of Business.
