The Force is strong with
Nationwide Insurance; one of the country’s largest (if not the largest) pet insurers recently issued a press release whose theme coincides with the worldwide premiere of the next installment in the
Star Wars saga of films.
The press release detailed how Nationwide analyzed its database of insured pets and came across a wealth of
Star Wars-inspired pet names. Based on data, the insurer listed the top ten most popular names from a galaxy far, far away:
1. Luke
2. Yoda
3. Chewbacca
4. Leia
5. Rebel
6. Vader
7. Obi Wan
8. Han Solo
9. Jedi
10. Boba Fett
The list is dominated by names taken from (or inspired by) the original trilogy, although some pet owners (and likely diehard
Star Wars fans) took the initiative to name their furry friends after characters from the highly-anticipated sequel—names such as Poe, Finn, and Rey have come up in Nationwide’s data, with one dog even sharing a name with the film’s iconic antagonist, Kylo Ren.
Notably, the data revealed that some Nationwide members got creative with naming their pets while keeping the
Star Wars theme. Monikers such as Duke Skywalker, Chew Barka and Artoo Dogtoo have been spotted among the names the insurer has recorded.
Fortunately for those pet owners who did not name their pets anything
Star Wars-related, Nationwide has not found their lack of faith disturbing.
