Maurice Greenberg headed Starr Insurance has unveiled its latest strategic move with the creation of Twin Maples Specialty, a new arm within Starr Specialty Lines Insurance Agency, LLC. This initiative aims to serve the wholesale brokerage sector more effectively.

Twin Maples Specialty Starr highlighted that the launch was to address the distinct requirements of both wholesale and retail brokerages. "We recognize the unique needs of the wholesale and retail brokerages, and Starr is committed to delivering solutions for all of our trading partners. Twin Maples Specialty will cater specifically to the casualty needs of wholesalers and their clients," the company stated.

To heading up Twin Maples Specialty, Starr have poached Bob Gadaleta from his role as Head of Insurance at Nirvana. He has been appointed as the Executive Vice President of Wholesale Commercial Insurance, and the move follows only just over a year with his previous employer. Gadaleta, a seasoned professional with over 29 years of experience in underwriting and field sales leadership, has previously held roles at both Hiscox and AIG. He steps into this role to spearhead the new division's efforts.

The focus of Twin Maples will be to work with wholesale brokers, aiming to expand Starr's footprint in an insurance market where wholesalers are increasingly prominent. The division is set to offer specialized products and services tailored to the needs of mid-sized and small businesses through a team dedicated to wholesale channel underwriting.

The introduction of Twin Maples Specialty comes as a response to the growing demand for specialized insurance solutions in the market. The division is poised to launch professional liability and financial lines products in the coming months, backed by A-rated carriers that operate in both the excess and surplus lines and admitted markets.

Twin Maples Specialty will have its headquarters in Alpharetta, GA, positioning itself as a key player in the evolving U.S. insurance industry, and perhaps suiting Gadaleta who was educated in the state.
