Global automotive manufacturing company Stellaris has issued a recall for nearly 202,000 heavy pick-duty pickups and chassis cabs from the Ram Trucks brand over an issue involving their windshield wipers.

US safety regulators said that the vehicles’ wiper arms may loosen over time, which can possibly cause a malfunction that can reduce visibility, raising the risk of a crash. Stellaris explained in a statement that, for now, it does not know of any crashes or injuries related to the issue.

The recall affects certain Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups and some 3500, 4500 and 5500 chassis cabs, The Associated Press reported. According to Stellaris, the affected cars are from the 2019 and 2020, model years, and most of the affected vehicles are in the US and Canada.

Earlier this month, Nissan had ordered a recall of some 800,000 SUVs in Canada and the US due to an issue with exposed wiring. Safety reports noted that water and salt can enter a wiring connector in the driver’s footwell, causing corrosion. The damaged wiring would disable the driver’s power window or power seat, cause the all-wheel-drive warning light to malfunction, or drain the car’s battery. However, the vulnerable wiring can also lead to electric fire risk, and Nissan had reported seven “thermal fire” incidents related to the issue.
