SullivanCurtisMonroe Insurance Services (SCM) has appointed Steve Marquez as its new president.

Marquez, who began his insurance career over 30 years ago as an underwriter at Continental Insurance, brings extensive experience to the role. Throughout his career, he has focused on creating innovative coverage solutions and providing customer service, values that align with SCM's reputation.

Marquez’s leadership experience in the Orange County insurance market includes his tenure as vice president at Armstrong/Robitaille Insurance, which later became BB&T and ultimately McGriff, where he served as corporate senior vice president.

“SCM is very excited to have someone of Steve’s caliber on board,” said SCM chief executive officer John Monroe, who is transitioning his president duties to Marquez.

“He stands out as a leader who has proven that he understands how to build strong client relationships through advocacy and cost containment, while also clearly communicating his strategic business vision to team members,” Monroe added. “These are rare qualities, and we are very fortunate that Steve has joined the SCM family.”

Marquez has been recognized twice by the Orange County Business Journal as an “Insurance Leader of Influence.” He also completed an Executive Scholar program in Organizational Leadership at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

Consistently being acknowledged as one of the largest brokers and top independent P&C agencies in the country, SCM has been in service for over eight decades and has established itself as a premier brokerage.

In 2016, the company has been selected as one of Insurance Business America’s Elite Agencies. Aside from its commitment to serving its clients, the company is also dedicated to giving back to the community through local charities.
