Tampa insurer names new president, CEO

One of the city’s oldest and largest insurance firms has promoted a top executive to the lead position with the company

Lykes Insurance has named Bill Taulbee as its new president and CEO. Taulbee succeeds John Brabson, who retired last December.

Previously, Taulbee was the executive vice president of Lykes’ Winter Park operations. He joined the firm in 1985.

Taulbee was a city councilman in Maitland and had served in various government and civic organizations. He was also a member of the Children’s Museum of Tampa board and University of Tampa board of counselors. Additionally, Taulbee was an associate of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, Hillsborough County Special Olympics, and Independent Insurance Agents of Greater Tampa, a press release stated.

Lykes Insurance is a commercial insurance firm founded in 1925 that has locations in Fort Myers, Sarasota, Tampa, and Winter Park.
