The clampdown on insurance fraud has reached state level – with a taskforce in Indianapolis helping to convict eight people.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development commented that its taskforce examined claims from those who appeared to have underreported information or provided false information relating to claim benefits.

As a result of its investigations, state officials found eight people guilty of insurance fraud.

A report in the Daily Progress revealed that one of the people convicted was a woman from Richmond who was given two years of jail time along with six years of probation and ordered to repay more than $32,000 for the benefits authorities allege she collected fraudulently.

Meanwhile, in another example, a man from Bedford was sentenced to three years of probation and also ordered to repay close to $16,000 for benefits he is reported to have collected fraudulently.
