Texas insurance commissioner appoints six to FAIR committee

The Fair Access to Insurance Requirements Plan governing committee gained access to three new committee members and three more re-appointments

Texas Commissioner of Insurance David Mattax appointed three new members and reappointed three other members to the state’s Fair Access to Insurance Requirements (FAIR) Plan committee. The FAIR Plan offers residential property insurance in areas where the product is not readily available through the private market.

Mattax appointed the six to terms that expire on Jun. 16, 2017.

Retired State Farm agent Frank Baumann Jr. of Kingsville is one of the new members to the committee. He serves on the board of directors of the Brush Country Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association. Baumann is a graduate of Texas A & M University.

Another newcomer to the committee is Byron Haney. Haney, a Franklin native, is the director of the Financial Fitness Center for the Brazos Valley Affordable Housing Corporation. He is also a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and the Financial Planning Association. Haney possesses a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and master’s degree from Western Governors University.

Assurnet Insurance Agency president Mark Solomon is the third new committee member appointed. From Richardson, Solomon is an independent insurance agent, as well as a member of the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents and Professional Insurance Agents of Texas. At present, he is serving as Mayor Pro Tem for the City of Richardson. He has a bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Louisiana University and a master’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.

John Miletti of West Hartford, Timothy McCarthy of China Spring, and Corise Morrison of Boerne were the other three committee members who were reappointed.
