H.W. Kaufman Financial Group announced this week that Daniel J. Kaufman has been promoted to Senior Vice President and appointed to its Board of Directors.

At present, Kaufman oversees the operations at the Burns & Wilcox Chicago office. He helped develop the company’s internal emerging leaders program.

Kaufman’s late grandfather, Herbert W. Kaufman, founded the company in 1969, and his father, Alan Jay Kaufman, is currently Chairman, President, and CEO.

“Kaufman is built on a legacy of financial independence, integrity and competitive drive. It is important that the company remains family owned and operated, to ensure the enduring commitment to these founding principles,” remarked Alan Jay Kaufman. He further said that his son’s “strong leadership and vision for the company’s future” will influence the company’s growth and success in the future.

As the Senior Vice President of H.W. Kaufman Financial Group and Burns & Wilcox, Daniel Kaufman will work closely with the organization’s Detroit headquarters as well as other locations in the Midwest.

As a new member of the Board, Kaufman will play a greater role across the company’s various offices. It will also allow him to turn his attention to recruitment and talent development within and outside of the company.

“I am excited about the near- and long-term opportunities for the firm and to work with the board on continuing to expand the business. It is an honor to follow in the footsteps of my father and grandfather,” Kaufman remarked. “My passion for insurance began at a young age and has grown exponentially throughout the years. I look forward to helping direct Kaufman’s future and bringing the best risk management solutions and services to our clients.”

Kaufman has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan and a Doctor of Law degree from Loyola University. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan. Kaufman additionally serves on various corporate, civic and advisory boards, such as the City of Hope National Insurance Industry Council, Midwest Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation, National Underwriter Magazine, Association of Lloyd’s Brokers, Metro Chicago Hillel and the Kaufman Family Foundation.
