National specialty wholesale insurance broker Towerstone has hired four new associates to help expand the company’s risk coverage capabilities with their underwriting expertise.

The company has hired David Willbanks to serve as small commercial underwriter. With a background in hospitality, healthcare and other industries, Willbanks will help connect businesses and insurers across the country with access to Towerstone’s specialized coverages, which are usually limited to large companies.

Meanwhile, Patrick Claggett has been brought in to fill the role of production underwriter, small commercial. Working alongside Willbanks, Claggett will aggregate and package specialized coverages for business clients. He has over 10 years of experience in the Dallas insurance industry and is a graduate of Baylor University.

Towerstone’s property division gets a new addition in the form of Jim Bishop, who will serve as the division’s lead. Bishop will support multi-family developers, owners and operators in his new role. According to a release, he is a former Texas Surplus Lines Association board member.

Associate broker Tyler Schultz has also been tapped to help support the property practice. Schultz’s role is to offer unique solutions such as builders’ risk, wrap-up and project-specific coverages for management firms and construction companies. He is a graduate of Wake Forest.

“These talented professionals highlight Towerstone’s commitment of streamlining the buying experience for our clients,” Towerstone executive vice-president George Schneller said. “Adding a lifetime of small commercial and property coverage experience to our already broad energy, construction and environmental services makes Towerstone a broker of choice for companies needing highly targeted insurance solutions.”
