Texas Commissioner of Insurance David Mattax has announced Deborah King as the newest appointee to the Board of Directors of the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA).

King would be replacing the late Ronald Lawson.

Hailing from Highland Village, King also serves as vice president and chief actuary of Republic Underwriters Insurance Company. With over 25 years of actuarial experience (with much of it used in pricing property in disaster-prone areas), King holds degrees from Cal State University and the University of Southern California.

Per Senate Bill 900, the TWIA board must include three members who live at least 100 miles from the coast, three members who are based in coastal counties, and three insurance industry representatives who specialize in windstorm and hail insurance in the Gulf Coast.
