One of Washington State’s most wanted suspects for insurance fraud was recently arrested in California.
Leandre Garner was detained and transported to Pierce County Jail on $10,000 bail. He awaits his trial on April 21 in Pierce County Superior Court. He was indicted with second-degree attempted theft and filing a false insurance claim in September 2013.
An investigation the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) under Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler revealed that Garner, who was a resident of University Place at the time, secured insurance for his 2007 Chrysler 300 in November 2012. On the next day, he filed a claim with
State Farm that his automobile was damaged in an apartment complex parking lot. The claim also had a damage repair estimate of over $4,300. Inspections revealed that Garner’s car was damaged even before he had purchased insurance.
Garner failed to appear in court for the charges laid against him, so a warrant for his arrest was issued.
