Wisconsin resident Robin Snow loved her position as a licensed cosmetologist and outside salesperson in the professional beauty industry. Around a year and a half ago, however, something changed.
“I was sued because my dog ran into a bike a few years back and it got me really interested in the [insurance] industry and the process of all that,” said Snow, who spent 30 years in beauty before joining up with
Farmers Insurance.
Her recent marriage also played into the decision to switch careers, she told the
New Richmond News.
“It was the right time to get into insurance because I had been traveling a lot and I was gone 80% of the time,” she said. “I have been married to my husband now for four years and I missed him and I wanted to be home more. I also wanted to own my own business while also finding something that helped me connect with the community. I didn’t just want another job.”
Instead, Snow said she wanted something she could work at for the rest of her career and possibly pass on to a family member in the future.
She started as a full-time Farmers agent in October after being recruited by an independent agent in Grantsburg. She enjoyed the “family-style” approach of Farmers, and began training.
Now, Snow specializes in home, auto, life and small business insurance and is licensed in Minnesota and Wisconsin. She’s also joined the New Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce.
Currently, Snow has sold 100 policies including half a dozen life insurance policies and has some commercial prospects in the fire. Though she’s working out of her home, she’s on the hunt for an office she can open by September or October.
“The business has been going well so far, but it is a process to get to know people, since them trusting you with their insurance is a big thing,” she said.
“It is important to me that people trust me and feel confident that I can provide them with a great product and great service.”
