April Willers has never been interested in the version of the insurance conversation that stays comfortable. As president of ClaimDeck, she has spent years pushing on the places where the claims and litigation ecosystem gets stuck - where technology, transparency, and entrenched process collide in ways that don’t serve anyone particularly well. At InsuranceFest this July, she’s not just attending. She’s moderating a keynote panel.

“InsuranceFest stands out because it brings together the people who are truly pushing our industry forward - creating space for honest conversations, new ideas, and real collaboration in a way you don’t often see in insurance,” Willers said. “At ClaimDeck, we’re excited to be part of the dialogue around how technology, transparency, and stronger partnerships can continue improving outcomes across the claims and litigation ecosystem. I’m especially looking forward to moderating a keynote panel with leaders who are challenging traditional thinking, embracing innovation, and navigating risk in new ways. Events like this matter because they help all of us think bigger about where the industry is headed and how we can collectively drive meaningful change.”

The phrase “honest conversations” is a signal. Willers knows - as anyone who has spent time in claims does - that the gap between how the industry talks about itself publicly and what actually happens in practice can be significant. She’s not heading to the pier to perform optimism. She’s going to have the conversation that moves things.

ClaimDeck’s work sits in a part of the industry that doesn’t always get the same spotlight as distribution or technology, but that matters enormously to outcomes: the moment when a claim is filed and the systems, relationships, and incentives that were set up long before all come to bear at once. Willers has been building tools to make that moment go better.

InsuranceFest is where she gets to ask the rest of the industry whether it’s ready to meet her there.

For a keynote panel moderator, the ability to create an honest conversation matters more than the ability to dominate one. Willers has both.
