Construction boom creates opportunity

NBIS is currently looking for agent partners across the US to help them serve the growing heavy construction industry

Within any industry there are companies you avoid, companies you do business with, and companies you create genuine partnerships with.

NationsBuilders Insurance Services (NBIS) is one of those companies dedicated to building partnerships—with independent agents as well as with the heavy construction industries it serves.

They defend their insureds vigorously, their executives serve on various construction industry trade association boards, and they work within those industries to improve safety.

NBIS is currently looking for agent partners across the US to help them serve the growing heavy construction industry.

Unemployment today is the lowest it has been in 8 years, the stock market is moving—perhaps haltingly—in the right direction, interest rates are up only slightly from historic lows and housing prices are up pretty much across the country. Add it all up and it is no surprise that heavy construction is also booming, as you may have noticed a few cranes added to your city’s skyline.

In short, there is opportunity for independent agents—even for those who, up until now have not worked in heavy construction.

According to the leading industry news magazine (American Cranes & Transport, www.khl.com/magazines/american-cranes-and-transport) of the Specialized Carriers and Rigging Association (SCRA), NBIS is known for its close relationships in the heavy construction trades. “What NBIS is most known for is its ability to support, learn from and engage in the industry it serves,” wrote Tim Hillegonds in a recent article.

On March 23, NBIS and Insurance Business America are teaming up to offer a webinar on opportunities for independent agents in this profitable and growing niche.

NBIS is the only insurer endorsed by SC&RA, which has 1300 member companies from 43 nations. Through its Risk Management Support System, NBIS also works within the industry to help train workers and management on safe practices and procedures.

The webinar will be hosted by William Smith, NBIS executive vice president for claims and risk management, and James Jinhong, executive vice president for underwriting.

“Unlike most insurance carriers that only provide policies, we provide proactive risk management solutions and claims service as well,” said Smith. “We don’t outsource claims services through a third-party administrator. We are as much a part of the industry as the companies we insure. We have to be.”

Jinhong said NBIS supports its independent agent partners as seriously as it does its insureds. “We would not be the leading MGU in the heavy construction space if it was not for the agents we work with. It is truly a partnership.”

The webinar will cover not only the opportunities available for agents, but will also discuss how risk is managed and how agents can expect to work with NBIS.
