A recent analyst report by Abodo, the online app for apartment hunters, revealed that construction and extraction are among the top five growth areas for job opportunities, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

Jobs grew by 9% in this sector, according to the online firm.

Also according to data, most of the jobs can be found in Texas, with five of its cities in the top 10 growth areas. These cities were identified as locales in the suburbs of Austin, Dallas and San Antonio. Abodo credits population growth as the main drivers of development in housing and city infrastructure.

Denver is also a city seeing rapid growth in the construction sector, with residential housing propelling the market forward. The city has energy projects tied to extraction and oil transportation as well, Abodo said.

The firm based its analysis on BLS’ location quotient, which examines job prevalence in a specific location based on total employment.  It studied 25 cities across the US.

Apart from construction, the top job growth areas, according to BLS statistics, are: community and social service, which grew 15%; computer and mathematics up by 14%; health care practitioners and technicians with 10% growth; and art, design, entertainment, sports, and media at 8% growth.
