Arthur J. Gallagher continues its M&A streak for the year, acquiring the insurance broker Buckman-Mitchell in California.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

With two locations in California (Visalia and Fresno), Buckman-Mitchell is a retail P&C and employee benefits agency and consultant that specializes in commercial and agribusiness. The agency was founded in 1916 by C.T. Buckman and Hyman Mitchell.

As part of the transaction, Clifford Dunbar, Judy Fussel, Brent Swanson, Todd Williams, Stephan Chrisman, Linda Loflin and their associates will continue to operate from their current locations. They will continue to work under the supervision of Gallagher Northwest region retail property/casualty brokerage operations head Jim Buckley, as well as Western region employee benefits consulting and brokerage operations head Norbert Chung.

“As one of the largest brokers in California’s Central Valley, Buckman-Mitchell will enhance our already significant presence there,” commented Gallagher chairman, president, and CEO J. Patrick Gallagher, Jr. “I am excited to welcome Cliff, Judy, Brent, Todd, Steve, Linda and their associates to our growing Gallagher family of professionals.”

“Buckman-Mitchell is a recognized leader in agribusiness,” added Buckley. “They also have a strong presence in public entity and construction, areas of great strength for Gallagher.”
