Emergin Risk, a Ryan Specialty Group managing general underwriter, has announced that it has strengthened its cyber, technology and media underwriting capabilities with the appointment of George Paraskeva as practice leader. Paraskeva will be based in the company’s London office.

Paraskeva has experience in both cyber insurance and the wider cybersecurity industry, having held senior positions in the insurance market since 2014. Paraskeva previously worked for BAEW Systems’ cybersecurity practice. In that role, he advised clients – including financial services institutions, critical national infrastructure, and multinational defense contractors – on the development and implementation of their cybersecurity programs.

“We are delighted to welcome Geroge to Emerging,” said Jamie Bouloux, CEO of Emerging. “His background, expertise, and market following are not only invaluable in managing the London practice, but to the wider Emerging franchise as we continue to navigate the current market cycle. George’s appointment is a great credit to all those who have worked tirelessly to build our brand, and we are excited for how he will help to shape our future.”

In addition to Paraskeva’s appointment, Emerging has announced the successful agreement of their new binder, running from July 31. RenaissanceRe continues to lead the program, having been involved since Emergin’s founding in 2016.

The company has also announced the promotion of Peter WIlliams to the newly created role of distribution lead. In his new role, Williams will help propel the company’s offering to meet the needs of cyber, technology E&O, and media placements.
