Ryan Specialty Underwriting Managers (RSUM) has named Kristin Daur (pictured) president of Ryan Specialty Renewables for North America. The appointment completes the senior leadership structure for a platform still in the final stages of unification.
Daur takes the role effective immediately. She reports to Jeff Smith, who was appointed global CEO of Ryan Specialty Renewables on July 13.
RSUM is unifying three existing MGUs under a single structure: PERse North America, PERse International, and Albus. That process is expected to finish in Q3 2026.
Renewable energy is not a line where generalist underwriting translates well. Battery energy storage systems carry fire risks tied to thermal runaway that require specific technical knowledge to price and structure. Offshore and onshore wind programs span construction, transit, and operational phases, each with distinct exposures.
Daur built her career on that kind of depth. She has held multiple leadership roles at PERse since joining Ryan Specialty early in her career. PERse North America underwrites wind, solar, and BESS projects across the US and Canada.
Miles Wuller, CEO of RSUM, said he had worked alongside Daur for 15 years. Smith said her market knowledge and platform experience made her the right fit as the unified structure takes hold. Daur steps into a role that is broader than its predecessor. PERse North America previously operated separately from PERse International and Albus, both of which have strong London market presence. Under the unified platform, the North American and international operations are expected to share strategy and leadership.
Daur said she looks forward to the next chapter. "The exceptional talent that has surrounded and nurtured me at the firm and in the broader renewable energy community is a constant motivator and reminder of purpose," she said.
Ryan Specialty Renewables is the managing general underwriter division of Ryan Specialty. RSUM acquired Albus as part of its purchase of Castel Underwriting Agencies in May 2024.
