ISMIE Mutual Insurance, a provider of medical professional liability insurance services, has promoted a new vice-president of underwriting.
Edward J. Carroll has been tapped for the role of vice-president of underwriting. A release said that as part of his new responsibilities, “he will oversee business underwriting for ISMIE and its subsidiaries.”
Carroll replaces retiring underwriting VP Alan Allphin.
“ISMIE is fortunate to have Ed on our team. His promotion is an acknowledgement of his significant contributions to ISMIE’s expansion and business development growth,” said ISMIE vice-chairman Paul H. DeHaan, MD. “We also wish Al Allphin well in his retirement. Al has been an important ISMIE team member for more than 30 years and his leadership will be missed.”
“These are exciting times for ISMIE, and Ed’s the right person to assume underwriting leadership. He’ll play a key role in strengthening our partnerships with brokers and producers to further grow our imprint across the US,” added ISMIE executive vice-president Wayne de Nazarie.
Carroll joined ISMIE Mutual in early 2017 when he was appointed as director of underwriting – new segments. He was later brought on to lead product development, distribution management, implementation of rating and pricing models, and underwriting for the company’s expansion strategy.
He started his career at
Chubb Specialty Insurance in 2000, serving a number of different roles of increasing responsibility until he left the company as senior underwriting officer in 2012. Carroll was also a director of underwriting at CMIC. He is a graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and earned his juris doctorate, magna cum laude, from the Western New England University School of Law.
