Specialist insurer Beazley has announced the appointment of Hannah Smith as a miscellaneous medical underwriter for its US healthcare team. Smith will be based in Atlanta, and will underwrite a range of miscellaneous medical professional liability (MLP) risks. She will also underwrite the company’s virtual care book, which provides cover for technology-enabled healthcare and lifestyle-management services. Smith will report to healthcare underwriter Jennifer Schoenthal.

Prior to joining Beazley, Smith served as a regional head at Hiscox USA, managing a team of professional liability underwriters.

“Healthcare providers are operating in an often challenging legal landscape with ne exposures, particularly driven by the digitalization of services,” Schoenthal said. “As we expand our team to meet the growing demand for specialist underwriting and claims expertise, I am delighted that Hannah has joined us.”
