Independent specialist insurance and reinsurance broker BMS has announced the appointments of Nick Hocking and Tony Cuthbertson as directors of its marine division. Both will be based in London and will report to John Hoare, managing director of BMS marine.

Hocking rejoins the company after more than a decade at Price Forbes & Partners, where he was most recently a senior executive in the marine division. Hocking previously served at BMS as a marine hull broker.

Cuthbertson has more than 30 years of experience in marine insurance. He also joins BMS from Price Forbes & Partners, where he served as an executive director. Prior to Price Forbes & Partners, Cuthbertson served as a marine broker at Newman Martin and Buchan.

“We are delighted that professionals of Nick and Tony’s caliber have joined the team,” said Ian Gormley, managing director of the BMS Global Risks division. “Their fast experience and technical knowledge will bolster our offering and support our strategic ambition of expanding BMS’s US marine wholesale business.”

“BMS is committed to providing extensive and successful insights to clients, driving market-leading outcomes for our growing US portfolio,” Hoare said. “Both Nick and Tony are great additions and will help to develop solutions for different specialty areas like hull and machinery, P&I, charterers’ liability, and other specialist covers across the region.”
