IBA announces iPad Mini winner
During the last four weeks, Insurance Business gave you the opportunity to speak out and review the managing general agents (MGAs) in your life. In exchange for your valuable time, we promised to award one lucky winner with an iPad Mini.

Today, we’re pleased to announce that that iPad Mini will soon be winging its way to Kerry Sparks of HHM Insurors in Moon Township, Penn.

Currently an executive account representative for personal lines with HHM, Kerry has been working in the insurance industry since 1998, holding a variety of positions across the country. She got her start working in reconciliation administration for MetLife in California, and has been with HHM since August 2013.

During her time with HHM, Kerry estimates she works with 10 different MGAs and has some definite thoughts on what makes some preferable to others. We caught up with her to see what those characteristics are.

“Patience, knowledge, experience—I think those are the top three things I really look for when I talk to [MGAs],” she said. “Patience is a big thing. When you’re dealing with so many different things, whether it’s selling or explaining coverage, they really need to be patient with the policyholders, as well as the agents and executives.”

However, Kerry feels there may be room for improvement. As someone who is intimately involved in her community, both as a cheerleading and softball coach, Kerry appreciates personal, one-on-one interaction and would like some of that to translate to her dealings with MGAs.

I’m the type of person that wants to know people better and know their background to be on a more personal level, not just a professional level,” she said. “A meeting so you can see them face-to-face would be great to get to know them a little better.”

Congratulations to Kerry and thank you to everyone who took the time to participate in our reader survey! Be sure to look for the results, along with other top-notch insight into pinpointing the best MGAs in the business, in our upcoming print issue of Insurance Business magazine, set to hit desks the week of March 3.
