It’s a new start in 2014 for several insurers, reinsurers and brokerages as new lead executives are appointed to expand business in the New Year.

This week, Insurance Business takes a look at a division expansion at Willis, a company hop for Swett & Crawford and a new appointment at consultancy firm Towers-Watson.

Willis

Willis North America continues to expand its Marine Practice with the appointment of Jeffery Beneville as Senior Vice President and Producer over the company’s yacht business.

Beneville will be responsible for business development in the yacht division, which places insurance for 24 of the world’s largest luxury yachts. Beneville said his goals in the position include expanding Willis’ presence in the highly specialized market and assisting Willis’ Private Client Group in providing personal insurance solutions to high-net individuals and families.

Prior to joining Willis, Beneville served as managing director at Aon Risk Services Companies. He will be working out of Willis’ Newport, R.I. office.

Swett & Crawford

Swett & Crawford, part of global wholesale and reinsurance broking group Cooper Gay Swett & Crawford, is breathing new life into its casualty practice group in Boston with the appointment of Ed Frackiewicz.

Frackiewicz joins Swett & Crawford after a 12-year stint as leader of the Boston Consortium for Higher Education. Previously, he held a risk management position at Del Monte Foods.

Frackiewicz, who holds as Association in Risk Management designation, will be continuing his focus on higher education at Swett & Crawford by helping provide independent agents and brokers with property/casualty, oil and gas, professional services, transportation and reinsurance sources.

Towers-Watson

Consultancy firm Towers-Watson announced the appointment of James Davies Tuesday as Chicago-based senior consultant for Towers-Watson’s international consulting group.

Previously working as Midwest leader of Mercer LLC’s international consulting group, Davies will help Towers-Watson face the challenges of declining defined benefit retirement plans by “work[ing] hard to identify other ways to deploy our deep technical expertise as we seek to bring other strategic ideas and opportunities to our clients.”
